Spring Hill motorcyclist injured in July crash dies

PORT RICHEY — A motorcyclist hospitalized in July after crashing into the back of a sport utility vehicle in Pasco County died Sunday from the injuries.

Joseph Charles Hermann, 53, of Spring Hill was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson east on Denton Avenue near the intersection of Matis Road on July 14. A 1998 Ford Explorer was also traveling east, in front of the motorcycle, and stopped for traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The bike failed to stop and crashed into the Explorer, troopers said. Hermann, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike. He was later taken to Bayfront Medical Center where he died Sunday.

Authorities had charged him with careless driving and carrying no proof of insurance. The driver of the Explorer, Lisa Ann Evans, 39, of New Port Richey, was not charged.
