St. Petersburg man dies in I-75 crash

BROOKSVILLE –– An 18-year-old man died in a crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Adam M. Gamble, of St. Petersburg, lost control of his 1999 Toyota Camry about 3:40 a.m. on northbound I-75 and drove into a guardrail, FHP said. The car flipped and was hit by a freight truck, a report stated. Gamble was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said, and was ejected from the car.

Gamble's passenger — Davontae Lee Bell, 20, of St. Petersburg — was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa in serious condition.

The truck driver, Billy W. Dobbins, 60, and his passenger, Walter Hancock, 59, were not injured. They are from Alabama.

Bell, Dobbins and Hancock were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
