PINELLAS PARK — A 67-year-old St. Petersburg man died early Sunday after an SUV struck him in Pinellas Park, authorities say.

Ronald Paul Segars was walking south across Park Boulevard when a silver 2003 Ford Escape hit him at 12:45 a.m., Pinellas Park Police spokesman Lt. Paul Andrews said.

Witnesses offered aid until emergency personnel arrived on the scene, which was west of the Park Boulevard and 52nd Street intersection.

Segars was transported to Northside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV, Joanne C. Luce, also of St. Petersburg, was not injured. Andrews said she pulled into a nearby parking lot immediately after the crash, which closed Park Boulevard for more than two hours. No charges have been filed against Luce, 39.

"Investigators will determine the appropriateness of any enforcement action at the completion of their investigation," Andrews said.
