GULFPORT — A St. Petersburg woman was fatally injured Thursday night when her motorcycle struck a sport-utility vehicle, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The incident took place around 8:15 p.m. Armaletha M. Wesley, 24, was riding her 2015 Leike motorcycle southbound in the median on 49th Street S approaching Jersey Avenue S, deputies said.

Ronald Hillman, 51, of Gulfport, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer eastbound on Jersey Avenue when deputies said he made a northbound turn onto 49th Street S., pulling out in front of Wesley.

The two vehicles collided. Deputies said Wesley, who was not wearing a helmet, died from her injuries while she was being taken to the hospital. Hillman was not injured in the crash.

Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, deputies said. The investigation is continuing.
