St. Petersburg motorcyclist seriously injured in head-on crash with SUV

ST. PETERSBURG — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries early Sunday morning after colliding head-on with a sport utility vehicle, police said.

St. Petersburg resident Sean Moore, 28, was driving his Triumph motorcycle east on Fifth Avenue N around 3 a.m., according to St. Petersburg police. Kristal Messenmacher, 29, also of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2008 Toyota SUV west.

Police said she made a left turn in front of Moore's motorcycle near 22nd Street N. The Triumph collided with the right front side of the SUV, police said, and Moore flew off the bike and through the Toyota's windshield.

He was wearing a helmet, police said. Moore was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries. Messenmacher was not hurt, police said.

The crash remained under investigation.
