St. Petersburg woman dies after being hit by car

A 27-year-old St. Petersburg woman died Friday night after being hit by a car as she walked across U.S 19. in Lealman, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 1992 Ford Mustang heading south struck the woman as she tried to make her way west across the road just south of 50th Avenue N, the FHP said. The woman was hit after failing to yield the right of way, investigators said.

She died at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Her identity wasn't immediately released pending notification of relatives. The driver, Nathan A. Eanes, 26, of Pinellas Park, wasn't injured.
