State Road 590 reopens after crash with injuries near U.S. 19

CLEARWATER — Clearwater police closed State Road 590 for about three hours after a crash near U.S. 19.

Traffic was shut down in both directions near Lucas Drive. The crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday and may have resulted in serious injuries. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, said Clearwater public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts.

Police redirected traffic and said the surrounding neighborhood was congested. They urged drivers to avoid the area.
