State trooper injured in Tampa accident on I-275

TAMPA — A trooper's car was hit by a van on Interstate 275 at about 8:30 Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Trooper Daniel Villano was taken to University Community Hospital with minor injuries.

FHP said that Villano was stopped in the outside lane of northbound I-275 near Busch Boulevard because of traffic. A Ford van traveling behind him failed to slow down. The front, right side of the van hit the left, rear part of the trooper's car, FHP reported.

The driver of the van was not taken to the hospital.
