PLANT CITY — A Tampa driver swerved off Interstate 4 Wednesday morning, plunging into a canal in a fatal crash, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The unnamed driver, 36, was headed west on the interstate in a 2012 Hyundai Elantra just before 11 a.m., the FHP said. He lost control of his car while exiting at Park Road.

The FHP reported he was wearing a seat belt and that alcohol was not a factor.
