Tampa man badly injured in motorcycle crash near Brooksville

BROOKSVILLE — A Tampa man was hospitalized with severe injuries Sunday after his motorcycle slammed into a car just south of Brooksville.

State troopers said Theo E. Angelakos, 52, was transported to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center and listed in critical condition after his 2002 Triumph motorcycle crashed into a car driven by Stephen L. Vickers, 58, of Brooksville.

Angelakos was traveling west on Powell Road approaching Emerson Road when Vickers' 2002 Mercedes Benz turned into the path of his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Angelakos was wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
