Tampa man dies in motorcycle crash

Crash kills motorcyclist on CR 579

A Tampa man died Sunday when his motorcycle collided with a van on County Road 579.

Deputies said Joshua D. Tonry, 23, was traveling south on his Honda motorcycle about 8:50 p.m. when Roger J. Carlin, 60, of Dacula, Ga., turned his Ford Econoline van in front of Tonry.

Carlin was traveling north and attempted to turn onto Joe Ebert Road near Thonotosassa, deputies said. Tonry braked but slid into the van.

Tonry was pronounced dead at the scene. Carlin was not injured.
