TAMPA — Police are investigating a hit-and-run after a man was killed as he crossed Hillsborough Avenue early Saturday morning.
Omar James Jeter, 22, of Tampa, was walking north near Lincoln Avenue at about 3 a.m. when a dark-colored compact car traveling west on Hillsborough Avenue hit him and kept on going, police said.
Jeter died at the scene. He was not in a crosswalk, police said. After he was hit, several cars passed by but did not stop.
