Motorcyclist killed by car making a U-turn

A motorcyclist died Saturday in a collision with a car on N Nebraska Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Alan Delong, 62, of Tampa, was riding his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on N Nebraska Avenue at E 138th Avenue when a car turned into his path.

Edward Peter Figueroa, 50, was attempting to make a U-turn in his 2004 Honda Accord, according to a report from FHP.

Delong was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he later died.

No one else was injured in the 2:45 p.m. crash.

Troopers cited Figueroa with making an improper U-turn. The noncriminal infraction carries a fine and up to 120 hours of community service, according to Florida statutes.
