TAMPA — A Tampa police patrol officer was hospitalized Wednesday night after rear-ending another car.
The officer, identified as M. Braband, was heading west in a marked patrol car on Cross Creek Boulevard approaching Cory Lake Boulevard when he failed to see stopped traffic and struck the rear of a 2005 Nissan Maxima, police said.
The patrol car, now heading in a southwest direction from the impact, then hit a 2004 Ford Mustang heading east.
Braband sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. A passenger in the Mustang was treated at the scene, police said.
Cross Creek Boulevard was closed in both directions for nearly three hours while traffic was diverted through a nearby parking lot.
