Tampa teen on bike dies in crash with pickup

RIVERVIEW — A-14-year-old bicyclist died Thursday night after being struck by a pickup truck on U.S. 301.

Morris L. Taylor, 14, of Tampa was crossing U.S. 301 in a crosswalk near Bloomingdale Avenue when he rode into the path of a northbound 2008 Dodge Ram, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was ejected from the bike and died at the scene.

A friend riding with Taylor, 15-year-old Elijah W. Anderson, also of Tampa, left the scene to bring back a parent, troopers said.

Both teens were wearing dark- colored clothing and neither of the bikes had the required bike lights, according to a report.

The truck's driver, Cornelius Dwayne Williams, 31, of Seffner had minor injuries.

No charges have been filed.
