Teen seriously injured in Pinellas Park motorcycle crash

PINELLAS PARK — A 19-year-old man was seriously injured after his motorcycle collided with a minivan Wednesday at 66th Street N and 90th Avenue N.

Renat Y. Kutsayev was traveling north on 66th Street N. about 4 p.m. when a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 47-year-old Carlos Espino tried to turn left onto 90th Avenue S. The front of Kutsayev's 2007 Honda motorcycle struck the side of Espino's van.

Kutsayev was wearing a helmet and traveling at "a high rate of speed" before the crash, Pinellas Park police said in a news release. He does not have a valid Florida driver's license, police said.

Kutsayev was taken to the Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Espino was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

SOUTHPORT, England — Someday, perhaps soon, there will be a plaque at Royal Birkdale for Jordan Spieth, much like the one off the 16th hole that celebrates Arnold Palmer and the 6-iron he slashed out of the rough in 1961 to win the British Open and usher in a new era of golf.
