Three injured in crash on slippery I-75

APOLLO BEACH — Three people were injured Monday afternoon after slick roads led the driver to lose control of the vehicle and overturn on Interstate 75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

David Leonard was driving south on I-75 attempting to exit at Big Bend Road, a report said. The vehicle overturned, ejecting passenger Julio Melendez, 23, of Gibsonton.

Melendez was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries along with another passenger, Angel Melendez, 45. Leonard, 45, of Riverview suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening, the report said.
