Three injured in St. Petersburg crash, one with life-threatening injuries.

Three people were hospitalized Sunday night in a car crash on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg that left the driver who police say swerved into oncoming traffic with "life-threatening" injuries.

St. Petersburg police say Gregory Lester Grant, 26, of Pinellas Park was driving a Mercury minivan east near the 6800 block of Central Avenue around 10:45 p.m. when he began to veer into the opposite lane, police said.

A Toyota Tacoma, driven by Terry Wesley Gue, 59, was headed west and tried to slow and dodge the oncoming car. Grant crashed into the Tacoma, injuring Gue and his passenger, Diane Gue, 63, both of Treasure Island.

The two were in serious condition and taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

At the scene of the crash, Grant "exhibited numerous indicators of impairment," according to officers, who began a DUI investigation.

Grant was also taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

An investigation into the crash was still in progress late Sunday.
