ST. PETERSBURG — A 2-year-old boy fell 15 feet from the top of a set of makeshift bleachers Saturday night during the East versus West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field.
The boy, whose name officials did not release, was crawling up the bleachers just before 7 p.m. and fell through a small gap, St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue officials said. Rescue workers took the boy to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.
"He was crying, alert and oriented," said Fire and Rescue spokesman Joel Granata.
It wasn't immediately known how badly the boy was injured, but he was expected to be okay, Granata said. He was rushed to Bayfront as a "trauma alert" because of his age and the distance that he fell.
