TAMPA – A semitrailer truck that crashed through a barrier on Interstate 4 was stuck dangling above an overpass for several hours Monday morning as Tropical Storm Emily passed through Tampa.

About 10: 45 a.m., the truck's driver lost control while traveling west on the rain-slicked roadway at the exit ramp to southbound Interstate 275, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The vehicle jack-knifed, with the trailer turning horizontal, blocking all lanes to southbound I-275 when it came to a stop. The cab of the truck smashed through a barrier wall, partially hanging over the edge of the interstate, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver walked away with no injuries from the crash and no other vehicles were involved, the highway patrol said.

All southbound lanes of Interstate 275 at the Interstate 4 junction were closed for about two hours, but reopened by 1 p.m.
