ST. PETERSBURG — Colin Scott Knapp, 18, was cited for careless driving after his car smashed into a concrete mailbox and flipped onto its roof.

Troopers said Knapp, of Pinellas Park, was heading west on 62nd Avenue N around 5 a.m. Monday when he lost control of his two-door Acura and hit a raised curb. Knapp then collided with a concrete mailbox and his Acura overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Debris from the crash hit a nearby home and shattered a window. Knapp was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with minor injuries.

He was issued traffic tickets for careless driving and having an attached tag not assigned.
