THONOTOSASSA — Authorities have identified the female passenger who died early Monday in a north Hillsborough crash.
Melody D. Saffel, 24, of Jacksonville, was riding in a Dodge Avenger with driver Justin D. Crum, 26, when the car collided with a Sweetbay tractor trailer on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Both died at the scene. Investigators say it appears the truck was traveling in the correct lane at the time of the crash.
Crum has been convicted of several driving violations since 2004, state records show,
