TAMPA — Authorities have released the name of a 32-year-old Tampa man killed Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 4.
Timothy J. Lovejoy was driving a 2006 two-door Saturn east at a high rate of speed about 2:15 p.m. when he lost control, veered into the median and then back into the eastbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Saturn collided with a Ford sedan then spun into the path of a Volvo tractor trailer merging onto I-4 from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, troopers said. The Saturn came to rest in the outside eastbound lanes.
Lovejoy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died from his injuries at Tampa General Hospital. The drivers of the Ford and the tractor trailer were not injured.
