Two children among four injured in Apollo Beach crash

A traffic crash seriously injured four people, including two children, Wednesday morning near Apollo Beach.

The crash happened about 7:32 a.m. on 19th Avenue NE, near the intersection of 30th Street. Maraha Leigh Hange, 19, of Riverview, was driving west on 19th Avenue in a 2000 Ford Ranger when the truck began to drift onto the right shoulder, according to Hillsborough sheriff's officials. Hange over-corrected, crossed the road's center and collided head-on with a 2008 Acura MDX, officials said.

The Acura's driver, Susan Lynn Jacobson, 42, of Apollo Beach, was taken to Tampa General Hospital along with two children who were in the car, Cole Steppacher, 6, and Shelby Steppacher, 5. The three suffered "incapacitating injuries," sheriff's officials said.

Hange was also taken to TGH. Her condition was critical, but stable, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
