Two hospitalized in Pinellas Park motorcycle crash

PINELLAS PARK — A motorcycle crashed into a car Sunday on Gandy Boulevard, sending two people to the hospital.

James Russell Westling, 50, and Patricia L. Gabriel, 49, both of Palm Harbor were riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Gandy Boulevard about 12:50 p.m. near the intersection of 34th Street N, according to Pinellas Park police.

As they neared the intersection, a Volkswagon Jetta driven by Morgan M Dooley, 17, of St. Petersburg turned from 34th Street into the motorcycle's path.

The Harley hit the Jetta and both Westling and Gabriel were ejected, police said. Westling was taken to a hospital with life- threatening injuries. Gabriel was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
