WIMAUMA — Two men were killed and one hospitalized Saturday night in head-on collision after a car crossed into oncoming traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At about 8:35 p.m., a man was driving west in a Chevrolet van on State Road 674, and Juventino Vasquez, 47, was traveling eastbound in a 1996 Dodge pickup truck. East of County Road 579, the driver of the van, who authorities have not identified pending notification to family members, crossed into the eastbound lane and drove head-on into Vasquez's truck.

The van caught fire in the road, the patrol said. The pickup ended up on the south shoulder. Vasquez, of Wimauma, and the van driver died at the scene. A passenger in the pickup, 63-year-old Felix Valdes, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.
