Two motorcyclists dead after Ruskin crash

RUSKIN — Two motorcyclists are dead after their Suzuki collided with a Jeep on Monday evening, deputies said.

Daniel James Walters, 22, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle eastbound along College Avenue when a Jeep Cherokee driven by Gabrielle Desiree Durand, 23, turned left off of Eighth Street into the motorcycle's path, said Larry McKinnon, a spokesman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived just before 6 p.m., Walters of Ruskin and his 18-year-old passenger, Ryan Michael Modrow of Wimauma, were severely injured. They were taken to South Bay Hospital where they died from their injuries, McKinnon said. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Durand, of Ruskin, was not injured.

An investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed, McKinnon said.
