TAMPA — Two motorcycles crashed on the Howard Frankland Bridge Wednesday night, sending both drivers to the hospital, one in critical condition, officials said.
Cody J. Carlton and Joshua Craig Miller, both 32 of Riverview, were heading north at high speed when they crashed, authorities said. Neither wore a helmet, according to an accident report. Both were taken to Tampa General Hospital, where Carlton was listed in critical condition.
At 10:56 p.m. Carlton was driving a 2006 Suzuki and Miller a 2007 Suzuki when they lost control and collided, according to the accident report.
The lanes backed up for several hours after the crash, stranding hundreds of Tampa Bay Rays fans returning to Tampa after Wednesday night's game.
