Two teens injured when struck by pickup in northern Pasco

SPRING HILL — Two teens running across County Line Road were struck by a pickup truck Saturday night and suffered serious injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Kacie Barns, 15, of Spring Hill and Jayce Grines, 14, of Land O'Lakes, were airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa after the 9:02 p.m. accident.

Barns and Grines were on the north side of County Line Road just east of Shady Hills Road, the patrol said, and ran south and into the path of a 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by Steven Edwards Moschella, 30, of New Port Richey.

Moschella's pickup sustained $4,000 in damages. No charges have been filed.

Moschella and his passenger, Stacey Marie Barton, 29, of St. Petersburg, were not injured in the incident, troopers said.
