Van collides with semi on I-275, seriously injuring two

TAMPA — Three lanes of Interstate 275 southbound were closed Wednesday night as troopers investigated the collision of a minivan and a Wal-Mart semitrailer truck that seriously injured two.

"The van was driving erratically according to witness and changed lanes in front of the tractor-trailer," said Sgt. Larry Kraus, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

At about 7:40 p.m., Kraus said, the truck hit the rear of the minivan at Floribraska Avenue, and one person from the van was ejected.

Both the van's driver, 52-year-old Cliatt Adelbert, of Tampa, and its passenger, 49-year-old Victure White, were taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries.

The truck driver, James Ronald Burch, 54, of Nicholls, Ga., was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
