Victim of fatal Largo hit and run identified

LARGO — The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the man who was killed Thursday night in a hit and run crash near Ulmerton and Belcher roads.

Tony Allen Sorenson, 41, of Fort Myers, was walking north across Ulmerton shortly after 8 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound vehicle, FHP spokesman Sgt. Larry Kraus said.

The driver of the vehicle, a silver Ford F-150, continued on Ulmerton and fled the scene. Sorenson was pronounced dead at Largo Medical Center. Kraus said officials are still searching for the driver of the truck.
