Westbound I-4 off-ramp to N 50th Street closed after fuel spill

TAMPA — The 50th Street off ramp from westbound Interstate 4 was closed Saturday morning after an accident caused a semi-truck's fuel tank to leak, Tampa Police said.

Police responded to a report of a crash with minor injuries at 2:36 a.m. involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. The passenger vehicle punctured the semi-truck's fuel tank, causing it to leak all over the off-ramp and onto a section of the northbound lanes of N 50th Street, police said.

Police closed the off ramp and a portion of N 50th Street under I-4 for clean-up. The closure was expected to last several hours and was still in place at 9 a.m.
