Wimauma man dies after car strikes tree, overturns

WIMAUMA — A 35-year-old man died after his car veered off the road, crashed into a tree and overturned late Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Danny Junior Bruno of Wimauma was driving north on U.S. 301 near Ruth Morris Road about 11:45 p.m., according to an FHP report.

For an unknown reason, he drove onto the west shoulder, where his vehicle spun. He came back across the road and into the east shoulder. His 1996 Buick Regal then struck a tree on the driver's door. The vehicle flipped onto its left side, partially throwing Bruno from his seat.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was immediately available.
