CLEARWATER — A newly licensed driver was cited for careless driving after she drove into an apartment building Thursday afternoon, police said.
The unidentified woman, who is 27, was trying to move her car at about 5 p.m. from a parking space at 1767 S. Leo Lane when she hit the gas instead of the brake, said public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts.
Her SUV lunged, and the woman, thinking she needed to hit the brake harder, pressed the gas pedal harder.
The vehicle surged forward, jumped a parking barrier and slammed into the wall of the apartment building in front of her. No one was hurt.
