A Tampa woman was hospitalized with severe injuries after she was struck by a van in Madeira Beach late Monday, authorities said. The accident occurred at 8:25 p.m. in the northbound lane of Gulf Boulevard at 148th Avenue, emergency officials said. Kathleen Meana, 56, of 424 S Englewood Ave., was struck by a white van as she crossed Gulf Boulevard from west to east. Deputies identified the driver of the van as Dan Braden, 64, of 11200 102nd Ave., Unit 8. Meana was taken by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center as a trauma alert patient. Her injuries included broken ribs, deputies said. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
