Woman injured in St. Pete crash dies four days later

ST. PETERSBURG — A 58-year-old woman died Friday morning, four days after she was injured in a car crash.

Linda Bolden of St. Petersburg was one of several people hospitalized after a crash at Third Avenue S and Eighth Street on Monday afternoon. She died at 8:58 a.m. Friday at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, police said.

Bolden was a backseat passenger in a 2004 Volkswagen driven by Deadra Brown, 24. One other woman and a 1-year-old child also were in the car.

Police said Brown was driving west on Third Avenue S when a 1999 Lincoln driven by Preston Purdam, 25, turned left in front of the Volkswagen. The cars collided. None of the people in the Volkswagen were restrained and all were hospitalized. Brown faces a safety belt citation.

Purdam, who also wasn't restrained, was not injured. He has been cited on charges of violation of right-of-way and a seat belt violation.
