Woman killed in Brandon hit-and-run

LUIS SANTANA | Times

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies are looking for a driver who hit a woman late Saturday night in Brandon and left the scene.

The woman, Shelley Grimes, was walking west across Providence Road at the intersection of Providence Ridge Boulevard, investigators said. Grimes was in the crosswalk at 11:10 p.m. when she was struck by a Chrysler 300 with at least three people inside. The driver left the scene, heading south on Providence Road.

The car is missing its left-side mirror and has damage to the hood as well as probably the windshield, the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477.
