RUSKIN — A woman was killed Monday afternoon when the car she was driving on Interstate 75 slammed into the back of a flatbed truck parked on the shoulder of the highway, authorities said.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not yet released the identity of the woman, who was driving a Kia Amanti.
Troopers say she was driving south at a high rate of speed, switching lanes and driving along the paved shoulder.
The flatbed truck owned by Tampa Pallet Company was parked on the shoulder, near State Road 674, while the driver was outside securing the load.
The woman died at the scene, troopers said.
