PALM RIVER — A 28-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday when her car slammed into a utility pole, Hillsborough sheriff's deputies said.
The crash was reported about 3:15 a.m. near 78th Street and Paradise Place.
Gina M. Balistreri of Wesley Chapel drove her 2005 Toyota Camry onto the sidewalk for unknown reasons, where her car slammed into a utility pole.
The crash took place in front of some homes. A resident called 911.
Balistreri was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where she died, deputies said.
An investigation was ongoing.
