SEMINOLE — A woman suffered life-threatening injuries Friday evening when she lost control of her car and crashed into a pole on Seminole Boulevard, deputies said.

Heidi Shute, 36, of St. Petersburg, was headed east toward the Bay Pines merge when her 2013 Chevrolet Camaro slid off the roadway, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. The passenger's side of the car smashed against a pole.

Shute was transported to a hospital, along with her passenger, Velina McBrayer, 45. Deputies said McBrayer's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators were still working late Friday night to determine what caused Shute to lose control. The crash happened at 6:03 p.m. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
