LARGO — A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office detention deputy was arrested Wednesday on a charge of failing to appear in court on a disorderly conduct accusation.
Deputy Wayne Nichols, 48, was arrested on the job at the Pinellas County Jail. He has been a detention deputy since 1999.
He was released from the jail Wednesday afternoon after posting $500 bail.
The circumstances surrounding the disorderly conduct charge were not clear Thursday.
Court records show Nichols was to appear for an arraignment on Monday on the charge, which was filed on Oct. 1.
The incident will be reviewed by the Administrative Investigations Division, officials with the Sheriff's Office said.
