An Amber Alert was issued early Monday after a 2-year-old girl was reported missing in Collier County, then canceled hours later when she was found safe.
Denise Hernandez was reportedly located in a field about 1½ miles from her home, Bay News 9 reported late Monday morning, and authorities said she was taken to a hospital to be examined.
The alert regarding Denise Hernandez was issued shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, and was pushed to thousands of cellphones across Florida via the Commercial Mobile Alert System, a new nationwide program used to distribute emergency alerts via text message.
The text message read, "An AMBER alert has been issued in your area, please check local media."
