Apparent suicide victim found outside Hillsborough sheriff's district office

TAMPA — Deputies discovered the body a man who apparently committed suicide behind the Citrus Park district office of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday night.

The man had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a weapon was found near his body at the rear side entrance of District III headquarters, 7202 Gunn Highway, the Sheriff's Office said.

Officials identified the man early Wednesday as 56-year-old Claude Orozco, of 7320 Exter Way.

He was discovered about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday by a deputy on routine patrol.

The man was not a current or recent employee of the Sheriff's Office, said Samara Sodos, an agency spokeswoman.

The area where the body found will be closed as detectives investigate the death.
