Authorities arrest Tampa bank robbery suspect in Alabama

TAMPA — U.S. Marshals arrested a Tampa bank robbery suspect in Alabama, police said Sunday.

Danny Ray Madison, 47, is suspected of robbing BB&T Bank, 400 N Tampa St., on March 13 — the same bank authorities say he robbed 10 years ago. Then authorities say he moved on to Nashville, Tenn., and robbed two banks there, showing a gun during one of them.

Authorities received a tip that Madison was in a hotel in Huntsville, Ala., where they arrested him this weekend. Authorities are investigating whether Madison was also connected to a Saturday robbery in Huntsville.

Madison recently had been released from federal prison after serving 10 years for bank robbery. In November 2000, he committed five bank robberies in downtown Tampa.
