Authorities find stolen Hillsborough school bus in Gainesville

One of two school buses that vanished in August 2012 from Hillsborough County has resurfaced — found shuttling football fans in Gainesville.

The buses were taken from outside Miles Elementary in North Tampa and were last known to be headed north. Authorities issued public pleas to help find them. At long last, one has been towed back to Tampa.

Police found it being used to transport fans to the Nov. 2 Florida/Georgia football rivalry.

"It came back all full of beer cans," said Jim Kennett, a district fleet manager. "It was pretty well trashed."

The other bus is still missing. It has a GPS tracker, but it was apparently disabled near the San Antonio exit on Interstate 75.
