SUN CITY CENTER — The Florida Highway Patrol was investigating a suspected hit-and-run crash Monday after a man was discovered dead on Interstate 75.

The 38-year-old's body was found near Mile Marker 240, according to Sgt. Steve Gaskins, a patrol spokesman. Based on evidence at the scene, investigators believe the man was struck and killed in the northbound outside lane, Gaskins said.

The force of the impact threw the man onto the shoulder of the roadway, where he was discovered by a passing motorist. The man's name was not immediately released.

Troopers are searching for a black Ford F150, F250 or Expedition, possibly with a flat tire and damage to the right front side.
