Authorities investigate possible sinkhole at Lutz home

LUTZ — Code enforcement authorities were investigating a possible sinkhole Friday beneath a house in Lutz.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials responded to the report Thursday night at 18425 Bittern Ave., authorities said. The homeowners called 911 about 9 p.m. after noticing floor tiles cracking. They also told the arriving rescue crews that they thought they felt the house shift, authorities said.

Crews examined the home and determined there was no immediate danger, officials said. The matter was turned over to the county's code enforcement department, which was continuing to investigate the matter Friday morning.

According to property records, the two-story, five-bedroom home was built in 1996.
