SEMINOLE — Bryan Dairy Road reopened Thursday morning after officials closed it to repair a gas leak, deputies said.
A backhoe operator hit a 2-inch natural gas line on Bryan Dairy near Starkey Road, said Rick Morera, TECO spokesman. He did not know what kind of work the operator was doing.
Crews from TECO and Seminole Fire Rescue were on scene shortly after it happened about 8:30 a.m.
Morera said repairs were still being made to the line at 10:10 a.m., though it was made safe about a half-hour earlier.
The leak did not affect any natural gas customers, he said.
