Car hits school bus, no students injured

TAMPA — A Ford Escort crashed into a Hillsborough County School bus in the east part of the county Tuesday afternoon after the bus had dropped off the last student.

Wendy Sue Wilson of Tampa was driving eastbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near Interstate 4, at about 3:30 p.m. when her car went over the raised median and hit the front of the school bus, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The bus had just finished its route from Blake High School.

Wilson and bus driver Maria Mendez Medina were each transported to the hospital, the report states.

The bus sustained about $20,000 in damages, and authorities charged Wilson with careless driving.
