Child revived after nearly drowning in New Port Richey pool

NEW PORT RICHEY — A nurse helped rescue a child who nearly drowned Saturday after falling into a swimming pool at a New Port Richey home.

The child, who was attending a birthday party at the home at 5640 Wellfield Drive, accidentally fell into the pool about 3:30 p.m., according to Pasco County sheriff's deputies. Others at the party pulled the child from the pool and a nurse performed CPR.

The child was revived and flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg as a precaution, deputies said. Authorities did not identify the child or the rescuer.
